Universal Design for Learning (UDL)

UDL guidelines, powered by cutting-edge research, invite educators to revolutionize learning by tapping into multiple dynamic pathways: sparking engagement, offering rich and varied ways to represent information, and encouraging diverse ways for learners to take action and express their understanding. Digital Accessibility Leaders Program

This program empowers full-time employees ready to step up, expand their impact, and lead the way in the rapidly evolving world of digital accessibility.

Program Description

Outcomes

  • Discuss WCAG guidelines and ADA Title II
  • Conduct basic testing of digital tools to make recommendations about their use
  • Develop workshops designed for colleagues

Overview

  • Two year term that can be renewed for two years
  • Open to full time faculty听
  • Application process and approval from supervisor
  • Prior knowledge or experience not necessary, just an interest in supporting and sharing knowledge about digital accessibility
  • Opportunity for professional growth

Responsibilities

  1. Take Deque courses 鈥� Access for one year upon registration
    1. Accessibility Fundamentals: Disabilities, Guidelines, and Laws听
    2. Basic Web and Document Accessibility for Content Contributors听
    3. Basic PDF Accessibility听
    4. Web Accessibility Testing: Screen Readers听
  2. Meet once or twice a month with the Senior Director of Teaching & Learning
  3. Serve as the point of contact for designated areas to promote digital accessibility听
  4. Conduct two active learning sessions per academic year
  5. Advocate for digital accessibility as part of Universal Design for Learning听
  6. Assist departments with preparing for their Digital Accessibility Progress Check-Ins

Compensation

  • Faculty: one course reduction per semester, or equivalent as determined by听supervisors听
