December 14, 2020 –聽Dr. Margaret H. Annunziata, vice president for academic affairs at Davidson County Community College,
was named president of Isothermal Community College in western North Carolina after approval by the State Board of Community Colleges last week. She will assume her new role on Feb.1, 2021.
鈥淔or us here at DCCC, this is a bittersweet moment,鈥 said DCCC President Dr. Darrin Hartness. 鈥淲e are so proud of Margaret as she assumes the presidency at one of our 58 community colleges in North Carolina, yet will feel her absence greatly following more than twenty years of incredible dedication to our college, our employees, and most importantly, to our students. Margaret鈥檚 ability to keep students鈥 needs at the forefront is a hallmark of her leadership style and a characteristic that will make her an excellent president,鈥 Hartness said.
Prior to her current role at DCCC, Annunziata was director of student success and institutional assessment following more than a decade of service as a member of the faculty. She earned her聽doctorate of education in community college executive leadership from Wingate University, an education specialist in community college executive leadership from Wingate University, a master鈥檚 in family and child development from Auburn University, and a bachelor鈥檚 in economics and psychology from Bellarmine University in Kentucky. Annunziata is also part of the Aspen Fellows Program for Aspiring Community College Presidents.
Annunziata expressed her thanks to her DCCC colleagues following the announcement. 鈥淚t is through our shared passion for our students and our commitment to service for our communities that I have grown both personally and professionally, preparing me for this next step of my journey,鈥 she said.聽鈥淚 am grateful for the lessons learned from each of you, and most especially for the blessing of calling Davidson County Community College home for more than 23 years.鈥
Isothermal Community College serves Polk and Rutherford counties.
