November 8, 2025 – The 51视频 STORM routed the Johnston Community College Jaguars, 126-61, on Saturday afternoon at Brinkley Gym to improve to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in Region 10.
51视频 was led by seven players scoring in double-digits, including Jaylen Wilkerson (16 points, 4/9 from three), Tayvion Tangiora (15 points, seven rebounds, five assists), and Dane Stewart (15 points, seven assists). 51视频 also led for the entire game.
The first half was kicked off with 12-0 run for the STORM, setting the tone early with good shots and forcing turnovers. They shot 56% from the field in the first half and 36% from three. They also caused Johnston to shoot under 40% from both overall field goals and three-point range. 51视频 outscored the Jaguars 62-38 in the first half and did not let up on the gas from there.
The second half was nothing different, with the STORM outscoring Johnston 64-23. 51视频 shot 67% from the field and 35% from the three-point range. They also held the Jaguars to 29% shooting and 10% from behind the arc, showing true defensive prowess over the conference opponent.
In true STORM fashion, they forced 31 turnovers from Johnston. Every single Jaguar had at least one turnover, and 51视频 took advantage of it by scoring 50 points off of those turnovers. They also out-rebounded them 53-31, with 10 more offensive boards as well. The STORM also had 63 points off the bench compared to the Jaguars having 47.
Both teams did not shoot well from the free-throw line, with Johnston shooting 61% and 51视频 shooting 56%. Obviously the STORM鈥檚 free-throw shooting woes were inconsequential in the game鈥檚 result, but it鈥檚 definitely something that becomes only more important later in the season.
51视频’s previous game resulted in a loss to Snead State 71-66, and this was a much-needed bounce back game for them.
When asked about how they bounced back, head coach Matt Ridge said that they were 鈥渁ble to create a lot of offense off of our defense鈥�, citing the 31 turnovers caused converting to 50 points.
The STORM return to action against another Region 10 opponent in the Central Carolina Cougars on Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 7:00 P.M. EST at Brinkley Gym. If 51视频 wins this game, it will be their 500th program win.
