Ready To Graduate?

What's the Difference in Graduation and Commencement?

Class of 2026, your graduation is finally here! Whether you plan to walk during the commencement ceremony or not, please review the important deadlines and graduate checklists below. We welcome Fall 2025 graduates to participate in the 2026 commencement ceremony as well!

After meeting all requirements to earn a certificate, diploma or degree, students are eligible to graduate. Credentials are awarded in December, May and July. Diplomas are mailed to the student in the month following the final semester.

A Graduation Eligibility Form is required to graduate.

Graduates are invited to participate in a formal Commencement Ceremony held in May of each year. This ceremony is open to all graduates from the current academic year and is held on the Davidson Campus.

  • You must register to participate in the Commencement Ceremony.
  • In order to be eligible to participate in Commencement, you must only have a maximum of two classes needing to be completed after the Commencement Ceremony (for degrees & diplomas only) and must be registered for them in the Summer 2026 session

Fall 2025 Graduates: If you are planning to finish your degree at the end of Fall 2025, please make sure to fill out the Graduation Eligibility Form. You will be allowed to participate in the Spring 2026 ceremony being held on May 14, 2026.

FALL 2025 eligibility deadline is October 31, 2025.

Commencement Ceremony

THURSDAY MAY 14, 2026

Ceremony Times:聽

10 a.m. | Arts, Sciences, Business & Technology
2 p.m. | Health Sciences and Workforce & Community Engagement
6 p.m. | Career & College Readiness

All ceremonies will be held on the lawn area in front of the Mendenhall building.

Before the Ceremony:
  • Make sure there is no outstanding balance on your StormTrac account.
  • . PhotoSpecialties will capture your image as you are receiving your diploma cover as well as a formal portrait with your diploma cover. Proofs will be emailed.

Important Dates to Help You Prepare

Graduation Eligibility

Confirm through your StormTrac account that your Graduation Eligibility Form is on file by October 31, 2025 for Fall 2025 applicants and March 31, 2026 for Spring applicants.

Cap and Gown

The deadline to order caps and gowns was March 26, 2026. The Business Office will have caps, gowns, tassels and Associate Degree Hoods for purchase.

You must go to the Business Office, Brooks Student Center, 2nd Floor, to make your purchase.

Cap and Gown

Select 鈥渟hip to home鈥�. You should receive your regalia 5 weeks from the date that the order is placed.

The deadline for students to order caps and gowns online is Thursday, March 26.

Whether you plan to participate in the ceremony or not, please complete the Ceremony Participation form.

You鈥檝e filled out your Graduation Eligibility Form and submitted your in-person participation form. Ready to learn what to expect during the commencement ceremony? Be prepared so you have an enjoyable and stress-free event by joining us for one of the sessions below.

Scholarship Opportunity for May or July 2026 Graduates

  • Deadline:
    • Sunday, March 15 at midnight
  • Requirements:
    • Minimum 3.5 cumulative or program GPA
    • Application, short essays, and 1 letter of recommendation

RECORDING:

Preparing for your final semester classes:
  • Meet with your advisor
    • Make sure all graduation requirements will be met by the end of your anticipated final semester.
    • Make sure that all anticipated program credentials are shown in your StormTrac.
  • After you have registered for all of your remaining courses, complete a Graduation Application.
Final Semester
  • Confirm through your StormTrac account that a Graduation Application has been filed. If not, complete your Graduation Application(s).
    • Graduation Application Deadlines:
      • March 15 for May Graduates
      • July 1 for July Graduates
      • Nov 1 for December Graduates
  • Review your name and address on your Graduation Application. The name on your credential will be printed exactly as it appears on the application and will be mailed to the address on the application.
  • Make sure there is no outstanding balance on your StormTrac account.

Frequently Asked Questions

Your transcript is updated within two weeks of the end of the semester. Credentials will be mailed to graduates. They should be mailed within four to six weeks. For all credential related questions please contact Records@davidsondavie.edu.

Transcripts are generally available within two weeks of the end of the semester and can be ordered online.

We have one ceremony date each year. Our 2026 Commencement ceremony is planned for Thursday, May 14, 2026. Summer 2025, December 2025 and May 2026 graduates will be included. See ceremony times below:

Commencement is an outdoor ceremony. It is held on the Davidson campus in the front lawn in the Mendenhall building traffic circle area.
