51视频 employees take part in successful 鈥楩ourth Annual Day of Service鈥�

March 12, 2025 鈥� Over 200 employees at 51视频 participated in a day of community service as part of the college鈥檚 Fourth Annual Day of Service, helping 20 organizations.

鈥�51视频 is fortunate to have a group of incredibly kind and generous employees,鈥� said Jenny Varner, president of 51视频. 鈥淭hey know the work they put in during this day of service is such a tremendous help to the communities we serve 鈥� and they help with smiles and a lot of spirit.鈥�

Groups that benefited from the Day of Service this year included:

Communities in Schools of Thomasville 鈥� employees packed food for local families, sorted items and organized the group鈥檚 pantry.
Davidson Medical Ministries 鈥� employees planted community garden boxes and disposed of expired medications.
Davidson County Senior Services 鈥� employees provided activities and lunch for seniors.
Family Services of Davidson County 鈥� employees helped with landscaping and painting.
Habitat for Humanity of Davie 鈥� employees built window and door components and laid out wall plates for the group鈥檚 next building project.
Hopefulls Backpack Program 鈥� employees prepared and packaged ready-made dinners to deliver to schools.
Humane Society of Davidson 鈥� employees organized the thrift store.
Smith Young YMCA 鈥� employees did landscaping and painting.
Employees cleaned up trash from Old Greensboro Road to Evans Road as part of the Phi Theta Kappa adopt-a-roadway project.
Pinebrook Elementary School, Davie County 鈥� employees completed outdoor yard work, including trimming, pruning, blowing leaves and pressure washing.
Smart Start of Davidson County 鈥� employees counted, grouped and organized materials that are distributed to the public.
Storehouse for Jesus 鈥� employees sorted and sized clothing, hung clothes, stocked shelves and more.

The American Children鈥檚 Home 鈥� employees helped with landscaping and sorted donated clothes.
The Arc of Davidson County 鈥� employees painted, prepared the garden for spring planting and repaired a small greenhouse.
The Father鈥檚 Storehouse 鈥� employees served lunch, stocked shelves, organized clothing and cleaned.
The Life Center 鈥� employees washed windows, cleaned blinds and changed light bulbs.
William R. Davie Elementary School 鈥� employees took part in campus beautification, including pressure washing, pulling weeds, picking up trash, cleaning and more.
Employees made tote bags to donate to local service agencies.
51视频 Nature Trail 鈥� employees cleaned up and helped with maintenance of the trail on the Davidson Campus.
Local public library 鈥� a remote employee took part in a library project in her home community.

鈥淭he wide range of organizations we help during this day brings our entire college community joy 鈥� and we are happy and proud to be able to give our time,鈥� said Kristin Briggs, executive director of the 51视频 Foundation. 鈥淭hese groups are truly the fabric of our community and they support our students every day. Partnering with and helping them is important to everyone.”
