This course is designed to provide basic training to individuals desiring to become an Activity Director in a healthcare-related setting.聽 Activity Directors for Adult Care Homes are required by the NC Division of Facility services to complete a minimum of 50 hours in an approved Activity Director’s course.聽 This course follows the state-approved course outline including (I) Overview of the Activity Professional, (II) Human Development an the Aging Process, (III) Standards of Practice, (IV) Activity Care Planning, and (V) Methods of Service Delivery.聽 The course includes a 30-hour practicum component. (75 hours)
The Activity Director will provide individualized assessments, therapeutic programs, and services, which assist the residents in achieving and maintaining their highest practicable level of physical, intellectual, psychosocial, emotional, and spiritual well-being.聽 The Activity Director helps the residents maintain contact and interaction with the community, previous life patterns, and routines.
